2018 Saratoga Coaches Conference

January 5 - 7, 2018

Longfellows Restaurant & Inn | Saratoga Springs, NY

Mastering Our Craft - The Never Ending Search for Excellence

For the 2018 Conference, the main theme will be based on the Coaches. In the past few years, we have focused on the Athlete's Safety, Training Periodization, Selection, and so on. For this year, the focus is on Mastering Our Craft. We will still have loads of technique presentations, Blue Prints of successful programs, an incredible Administrative RoundTable series (free for every team to send 1 person), and other various Presentations from Athlete Screening to Making Coxswains to Creating Team Culture. Friday will kick off with a welcome/introduction from Patrick McNerney - the new USRowing CEO. In addition, Kris Korzeniowski will host 2 Panel Talks: [1] "Rowing Technique - many styles that make boats go fast" & [2] "How to Coach and Utilize Small Boats" Saturday Night will include the Junior National Team update from Steve Hargis (accompanied by several of the JNT staff), followed by the Awards Presentations for the past year. The Administrative Round Tables will be led by Bruce Smith (CRI) with help from the movers & shakers from some of the most successful programs in the Country. Topics will include: [1] Organization Structure [2] Programming [3] Staffing & Expectiations [4] SafeSport presented by John Wik. Looking forward to seeing you all again. This year will be a great one. I'd call ahead to Longfellows now to secure a room. All meals are included in the price. Those Administrators coming just for the Roundtables can pay for their meals through the SRA business office
